When it was discovered that a child in Gypsy’s Pennsylvania family had serious allergies to dogs, they turned to MAESSR to find new homes for her and a 9-month old canine companion.
Gypsy is a beautiful bench-bred, energetic Springer that has lived with and loved children as young as four years-old. She loves other dogs and will approach new potential friends by giving them a sniff and an invitation to play; she has never shown any aggression. In her foster home, Gypsy has developed a friendship with her new foster brother. The two dogs enjoy play time that includes good-natured wrestling. She loves to play with her toys as well as engage in a good game of tug of war. The two dogs eat together without incident.
Gypsy is both housetrained and crate trained. She is taken outside on a regular basis, and there have been no accidents in the house. When her foster family is away, Gypsy resides in her crate; when they are home, Gypsy is permitted to get up on the furniture. At night, she loves sleeping in bed with her foster dad, who refers to her as his “little love monster.” This sweetie loves to have her neck and belly rubbed and she enjoys cuddling with anyone!
As for house manners, Gypsy will need a refresher course. Counter-surfing is in her repertoire and, if the trash is accessible, she assumes it’s available for the picking. She responds to the command, “sit” and she will drop her toys when asked to do so. When out walking, Gypsy will pull on the leash, so she’ll need some guidance to practice some restraint. She loves to ride in the car.
Grooming might not have been part of Gypsy’s past experiences. She did not enjoy being groomed by her foster mom and demonstrated that by being very wiggly. Undoubtedly she’ll begin to understand that a good grooming can be such a pleasure, especially when she can show off her beautiful coat.
At Gypsy’s visit with the vet, she was a very good girl. Everyone fell in love with her and commented on how beautiful she was. It was discovered that she had an ear infection, so she will be taking medication to clear it up. She was otherwise in excellent health.
This Gypsy would love to stop wandering and find a loving family and permanent home. Consider sharing yours with this sweet, playful girl.
