On rare occasions, MAESSR is blessed with an entire litter of puppies! After ceasing his kennel operation, a breeder from Pennsylvania reached out to MAESSR and Gus along with six adorable furball siblings were born in MAESSR’s care in Virginia. Their mom is Bambi 2 and their dad is Pooh Bear who was adopted earlier this fall.
Gus is about the sweetest little guy ever. He is truly a beautiful puppy and is going to grow into quite the handsome guy. Judging from his paw size, he’s going to be a big boy, compared to his litter mates.
Super smart, Gus knows his name and “comes” when called. He runs to his crate when it is time to eat. He will sit quietly in front of his foster mom and work for a treat. He is housetrained in his crate and will go all night (about 9 hours) without crying to get out and go potty. He knows the command “go potty” and has even started to go outside on his own when it’s time. He rides great in the car once he gets some initial crying out of the way, sharing a crate with his sister for the trip.
Please note that MAESSR will require the adoptive family to take this love through a series of obedience classes within 90 days of adoption. MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience. MAESSR believes the decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. Gus will be a star pupil!
Gus is super playful and loves to play with the resident 2 year old border collie. At the end of long day of fun and play, he will lie on his person’s lap and then snooze until it’s time to go to bed in his crate. Or if he is not sleepy enough, Gus loves to plop on a lap and just play with a toy. He is very happy to rest on his foster mom’s feet when he is ready for a snuggle. Gus is a very laid back boy and loves just about everyone he comes in contact with.
His foster family has not separated him from his sister Maisy yet and anticipates that will be a hard transition for them both. Their foster mom will be working on that once the foster parent’s human children go back to school and Christmas vacation is over. She hopes to have him experience some separation before he goes to his forever home so that it is not too difficult for him.
Gus would do best in a home where he has another dog to play with or with a family that has someone home full time and able to give him lots of outdoor time and exercise. He is thriving in that environment where he has access to a yard and lots of outdoor play time.
His foster family will be sad to see Gus go, but they know that he will have a great future in his forever home.
