In a word, Gunner is absolutely PRECIOUS! He appears to be approximately 2-3 years old and is a beautiful black & white male (neutered). His tail has been docked, he still has his dewclaws, and he does have a microchip. Gunner was rescued from a shelter near Reading. Supposedly he is a victim in a bitter divorce originally and was given up. Subsequently, he was adopted from the shelter only to be returned for apparent house-breaking issues.
He has been in foster care since Nov. 23. He was introduced to his foster families two springers, Brady & Rosie. After much sniffing and tail-wagging, they are now the best of friends! Gunner’s temperament is very mild and sweet. He has never once shown a sign of aggression towards dogs, to children, or other adults. He is very loving, but does not offer sloppy dog kisses. He is content to sit obediently by his foster mom’s side and he walks very close to her legs when outside together. When Gunner first arrived, he was very skinny and still appears to be a very lean dog. He weighs about 45-50 lbs now and has a very healthy appetite. During the Thanksgiving holiday, he traveled very well to NC with his foster mom. He was content in his travel crate and was very well-behaved.
Gunner loves to be groomed. He enjoys having his hair brushed and doesn’t mind an occasional bath in the tub. As for housebreaking, Gunner appears to be just fine. With routine and consistent visits, he has willingly conducted his business outside. He probably perceives the best part of going to the bathroom outside is the biscuit he gets once he returns inside! He loves it!
Gunner does well in crate and seems quite content. With the other two dogs, he seems perfectly trustworthy and has made no effort to chew anything other than his rawhide bone. When we’re in the house together, he is anxious to follow me everywhere. He makes no effort to jump on either the furniture or the bed. He lays quietly on the floor and waits for me to move to another room. All in all, Gunner is a wonderful boy! He is a very sweet and loving dog who would make a wonderful addition to any family.
Is he the sweety pie that will find the way into your heart?
Update:
Gunner has been adopted by a fantastic family!
