Fraulein Gretchen continues to do well in foster care. Her foster home is quiet and low key and Gretchen would like those qualities in her forever home too. She is way past wanting a noisy home with little kids running around making noise.
Gretchen could be adopted separately from her sister Hilde as they do not appear to be particularly bonded.

Although it was assumed that Gretchen and her sister Hilde were bound for spay surgery, it turned out that both girls were already altered. Been there, done that!
Follow up vaccinations will happen in a week’s time, and then these sweet girls are ready for their forever homes. As they are not particularly bonded, their foster mom believes they would do just fine in separate homes…or, like Springers, two Cockers could be twice as fun as one!

Gretchen, along with her sister, Hilde, were found as strays in Virginia. During their stay in a shelter, these Cocker girls were brought up to date on all vaccinations. They were heavily matted and were groomed, revealing their beauty underneath all the long, tangled fur. Both Gretchen and her sister are now together in a MAESSR foster home.
This girl can be wary of some people initially, but she has been with adults and children as young as seven years old and was friendly towards them. Gretchen does well with her sister and did not react to other dogs as the vet, so perhaps would do well with other dogs. She has had no experience with cats in her foster home.
Gretchen travels well in the car. She loves playing ball and taking long walks. On a leash she does well but will pull if she sees an animal. In the house, Gretchen’s behavior is great, although she will pick up things in a low garbage can or a stray tissue. She has not chewed anything inappropriate. If someone comes to the door, Gretchen will give an alert bark.
This good girl responds to “sit” and “stay.” She will come when her foster mom whistles for her. She sleeps on a dog bed but has been in a crate a few times with no problems. When Gretchen needs to go out, she will stare or whine at her foster mom. At mealtime she is fed in the kitchen. She does not food guard but will grab food if at her level. She responds well to “nice” when given treats.
At the vet Gretchen was a good girl as the doctor checked her ears and eyes. She was compliant with all of the poking and prodding needed to get her squared away health-wise. Gretchen looks and feels so much better with her grooming and should be groomed on a regular basis. She will be getting spayed soon and will need some time to recuperate. Afterwards this sweet girl will be looking for her forever home.
Gretchen’s ideal home would be with someone who can give her a lot of time and attention. She would enjoy a fenced yard, too, so she could run safely and freely. Would you consider opening up your heart and home to Gretchen?
