Update 06/30/08:
The sweet princess, Gracie, has changed foster homes to allow her original family to take on more dogs in need. Although Gracie has been in her new home a very short time, she is proving to be a very well-behaved girl. She knows all of her hand signal commands and is about 95% reliable when asked to come. She is also perfectly house trained.
In her original foster home, Gracie lived with many, many dogs and did well. In her current foster home, she is living with one, more laid-back, older male ESS and has mostly done well with him. When she first arrived, it seemed that Gracie might want all of her foster mom’s attention, but as she has gotten better acquainted with the whole family and more secure, Gracie is more willing to share.
Gracie is also living with a cat now. At times, Gracie gets those really big eyes like she wants to chase the cat but she rarely acts on it. One night they met face to face while coming in the door and she did chase him for about 6 strides. Then she turned around and lost interest. Most of the time Gracie just sits on the sofa and watches him pass by.
Since in her new home, Gracie has played a little with a toy with both of her foster parents. She has a new fuzzy football and if they throw it for her, Gracie will bring it back to somewhere near them. Gracie is the funniest when her family arrives home. She starts out with the best whoo hoo that turns into a really loud high pitched welcome for a couple of minutes. Her foster parents have never been welcomed home with so much enthusiasm. After the welcome home ritual, her foster dad gets on the floor with her and lets her run and jump into his arms. It’s truly a delight to watch.
This little girl loves to go on walks around the neighborhood. Sometimes she will bark an alert at people and sometimes she doesn’t. What triggers her is unclear but it extinguishes quickly and she and her human companion carry on their way. It never sounds like a mean bark, just more of an alert that somebody new is coming.
This is a very special princess and some family is going to be very lucky to adopt her. She is a very easy dog to love and very well-behaved. She has the perfect amount of energy for her age. She has spurts of activity followed by short power naps. Gracie is content with some play, moderate walks and lots and lots of attention.
If you are looking for a sweet girl who begs to go on leisurely walks, is already trained and just lives to love on her people, this is the girl for you.
Original:
Gracie came to MAESSR when another dog in her home bit the owner severely. The owner was then frightened of all dogs, so Gracie had to find a new home.
Gracie is a wonderfully sweet girl who is housetrained and has excellent house manners. She does take Proin for mild spay incontinence. Gracie thinks she is a little princess, and she looks like one! And everyone knows that a princess must sleep in the bed with her people, and she absolutely must be on the furniture with her family. Gracie does best with older children over the age of twelve as younger ones make her nervous. Gracie does well with other dogs. She loves to ride in the car and is always willing to GO!
Do you need a princess in your life to love and adore?
