Updated 9/27/05: With a week in her foster home, the real Gracie is emerging. She is quite the talker, especially when she is hungry. She has a guttural woo-hoo that sounds like growling at first, and, then develops into a full-throated woo-hoo. She accompanies this tune with percussion if the feed bowl will cooperate.
Gracie has started to play with the resident puppy and the dog toys around the house. She is tentative with new people and new situations but will warm up quickly if offered a pat or a belly-rub. This girl is a real attention-hound. Although Gracie is getting along well with her 7-year-old human foster brother, she seems ill at ease with some of his antics when he is playing around and might prefer living with older children.
Gracie has been left for up to 5 hours with full run of the house. She will jump up when people come home but responds quickly to “off.” She loves going for walks and will only pull a little. Her family has noticed she gets very excited when they tie up the garbage. She clearly expects to go along to take it out and views going as a treat. Think what a treat it could be for her forever family to have an eager companion joining in on that daily chore!
Original: Gracie is a beautiful, petite fieldie girl and a major love bug. She was relinquished to MAESSR when her owner was no longer able to care for her. Gracie was an “only” dog living with an adult, but she is getting along great with her foster brothers, ages 5 months, 4 years and 13 years, and with a 7-year-old boy.
This girl loves attention and is sweet and playful with the people around her. Gracie knows “sit,” “come,” and responds off leash. She has checked out the toys but hasn’t really started playing with them yet. She has excellent house manners. With her there is no counter surfing or no garbage diving, and she is housetrained.
Gracie was an angel at the groomer’s after arriving in her foster home, but she did not like the vet at all. Fortunately, Gracie is the picture of health and shouldn’t need to see the vet for another year!
More will be added about Gracie as she settles in at her foster home, but she’s already looking forward to meeting her adopting family. This cute, little Halloween baby would love to have a new haunt to call home for her birthday!
