Gracie came to MAESSR through the efforts of a Good Samaritan. When taken in, she had been out on the highway for at least a week. Her companion, possibly a brother, was run over and killed by a car. The family who rescued her named her Gracie as she was alive by the Grace of God.
Gracie had over 100 ticks on her when found. Her liver/white coat was a dark gray and heavily matted. It was clear she had been severely abused in her previous “home” as she cowered flat on the floor if you moved your hand, spoke in a firm voice or if she thought she had done something to displease you.
Gracie has come a long way since mid-May when she was found and her life began again. Thanks to the efforts of her rescuer and foster home, she has come to trust people again — giving kisses readily, constantly wagging her tail, and wanting very much to please. She is housebroken (will let you know when she needs to go out), and will sit for a short minute on command. Given her great willingness to please and gain affection, training by any positive method will be a success. Gracie is good with other dogs and children of all ages.
Gracie is still a bit skittish but has made great strides in her confidence level and continues to blossom. She will need a patient and loving household to continue this progress. Gracie has much to give the lucky family who adopts her
Can you give this young lady the new start in life she so deserves?
Update 6/30/03:
Gracie found a wonderful home to call her own!
