What possibly could be cuter than a Springer puppy? Nine Springer puppies! It’s raining puppies in MAESSRland since a Maryland family’s purebred Springers got together and had an accidental litter. MAESSR quickly offered its assistance to the overwhelmed family in finding good, loving homes for the nine puppies. Since this windfall came in autumn, the pups were given names reflecting the beautiful colors of the season.
Goldie – a golden friend to end! That is the kind of puppy that Goldie is. This total love bug enjoys her playtime outside, but inside she is a mellow sweetie who is the best snuggling puppy around! Goldie’s foster home is also hosting her sibling Blaze. Although Blaze is the dominant puppy who initiates most of the puppy wrestling that goes on, Goldie can hold her own with her sister! She enjoys being outside and loves her daily walks through the woods, although initially, she is sometimes nervous about leaving the front step! Once on her walks, she explores everything with her sister and occasionally will head off by herself, following one of the resident dogs. Goldie lives with two resident dogs and respects both of them. She also lives with a grumpy, sixteen year old cat whom she has learned quickly to ignore! To Goldie’s delight, there are two children in her foster family and many visitors; Goldie is exceptional with them. Everyone that meets Goldie wants to take her home!
Housetraining is going well and Goldie mostly eliminates outside now. Because she is playing with her sibling much of the time, frequent potty breaks are needed. Goldie loves her meals and eats well inside her crate. Crate training is also going great, especially since she is sharing a big crate with Blaze. Because her foster family keeps her very active, Goldie is almost relived to get some daily crate time so she can crash! Being a puppy is exhausting!
To keep her amazingly wavy, silky coat looking terrific, Goldie occasionally needs to have a bath – something she does not like! So, she spends her entire tub time trying to get out! Beauty has its price, Goldie. She would much rather go to the vet than have a bath. At the vet’s office, she just likes to fall asleep under a chair – no water involved there!
So far, Goldie has only been interested in playing with her puppy toys and maybe an occasional sneaker. Besides spending her time playing, Goldie has been getting some schooling with leash walking. Since her foster home is on four private acres, Goldie spends most of her time training off-leash. To get her to respond to her name, a whistle or a clap is fantastic. Goldie will get further opportunities for formal training with her forever family as they must take her for obedience lessons according to MAESSR requirements for a puppy less than a year old.
Goldie is a smart snuggle bug who will be a devoted member to her adoptive family. Need a fix of puppy breath?
