Original: “On leashed walks at home, her nose immediately goes to ground in true Springer-fashion. She doesn’t pull but wants to follow yard and field smells, keeping her person moving.”Ginger was pulled from a Kentucky shelter by another rescue group. She had been extremely frightened during her stay at the shelter and was having a hard time settling down in her foster home. Since she was being a bit of a brat there, it was felt she needed some time in another home to get a fuller understanding of her personality. The other rescue group asked if MAESSR would be willing to work with her. So, the wheels started turning and now Ginger is a MAESSR girl.
Very soon after arriving at her new foster home, Ginger went to the vet. She had nasty infections in both ears plus she had a serious urinary tract infection. Her thyroid levels were determined to be low (which can make a girl extra cranky), and she had some anxiety about being confined to have her ears and body checked. Ginger was started on antibiotics for a couple of weeks for the urinary issues. That should make her feel somewhat better. She was also started on a low dose of thyroid supplement. This has definitely helped her attitude! Both ears were treated and will be rechecked in a couple of weeks. With all of these health issues, no wonder she had been a difficult girl previously. Luckily, all of her issues are treatable.
Ginger is crate trained, but it is not her favorite place to be. She would much rather be with her people. She has good house manners except that she will counter-surf in the blink of an eye. She likes to sleep in the big bed with her foster parents, but also will settle for a comfy dog bed.
This pretty girl likes to ride in the car and was a good passenger for her long trip from Kentucky to Virginia. On leashed walks at home, her nose immediately goes to ground in true Springer-fashion. She doesn’t pull but wants to follow yard and field smells, keeping her person moving.
Watch for more on Ginger. As soon as her major health overhaul is done, Ginger is going to be a wonderful Springer for some lucky family!
