Original: This is a sweet, smart girl who was found wandering at a hunting preserve with an orange reflective collar, typical of hunting dogs. Her owner has never came to claim her. She is about 34 pounds and apparently was an outside dog. She is housebroken and knows to sleep on a doggie bed. Poor Ginger just seems to be quite sad. She cries a lot and seems to be missing her family. She paces at the shelter but it doesn’t seem to be obsessive.
Ginger gets along with everyone, people, children and other dogs. She is unknown around cats. If she was trained to hunt, she should be watched around cats but can be taught to ignore them. Ginger knows how to walk well on a leash. She is currently impounded at a shelter. While it is a kill facility, she is not in any immediate danger. We hope to move her into foster care soon.
Ginger was moved into a foster home on October 24, 1999. She needed some housebreaking, but was very responsive. She was adopted a few days later by the same family that adopted Justin. Ginger is fitting in very well. She and Justin and the kids all get along just great. She is starting to become more responsive to toys and more relaxed. We’ll be waiting for more updates!
