Update 11/10/11:
Georgia qualifies for MAESSR’s Home for the Holidays program. For dogs in this program, adoption fees will be waived through the end of the year. Help a special Springer’s wish come true – welcoming one into your home may be the most heartwarming gift of this holiday season!!
Georgia is showing so much improvement since starting a different medication for urinary incontinence and continuing on another for thyroid regulation. Together with her daily supplement to support joint health, they are making her feel about 5 years younger – oh, what a feeling!!!
This sweet girl still does not care for other dogs, but she is tolerating them in her foster home much better than when she arrived.
If she could whisper in Santa’s ear, Georgia might ask for a quiet home where she could get some special love and attention. They say good things come in small packages. How about putting this petite girl under your Christmas tree?
Original:
Georgia came to MAESSR due to a divorce in her Virginia family. She moved from a home with a yard to an apartment in the city. All of these changes were just too much for her. She was living with her dad who sometimes had to work late and the stress was just too much for both of them. She was an extremely loved and cared for little lady. Her dad wanted her to have a better life than she was living so he decided to work with MAESSR.
As she walked into her foster home, Georgia immediately charmed her foster dad. She thinks he is absolutely the most wonderful person! She follows him everywhere. Although Georgia has some osteo-arthritis and is a little stiff when she walks, she managed to jump into the bed so she could sleep with foster dad! She has been started on Dasuquin with MSM to help with the arthritis and she is moving SO much better. In fact, she has even started trying to counter-surf! Her foster mom is positive she must have been a champion counter-surfer in her younger days.
In her foster home, Georgia is currently living with multiple dogs of all shapes and sizes and her interaction with them has generally been very smooth. This little 33 pound girl is mostly sweetness, but she will let the other dogs know if they are being rude and getting in her space. She is gracious about it, but firm. Georgia lived with cats in her previous home and was very good with them.
This little peach loves riding in the car and going for walks. If it is time for a ride in the car, Georgia will hop right in and is an excellent passenger. On walks she is good on a leash and thinks that everyone she meets wants to stop and pet her! Georgia has full run of the house while her foster family is at work and has never hurt anything. Good girl!
This little darling is looking for a family who would love to share her remaining years cuddling and loving. Adopting a senior Springer is an opportunity you will never regret!
