Update 7/11/03:
Hi! I am George, and I haven’t written for a while because I have been taking my antibiotics for Lyme Disease and getting neutered. I am nearly done with my second round of antibiotics, and then I can go to my forever home. I was neutered the first part of June and that has healed just fine.
I am still having fun with the other four dogs here but have decided that I am the best dog here and so I get to go out first. It sure helps that I am also the biggest dog here!
I did catch a squirrel the other day, and boy, did they have fun trying to get it away from me! However, a treat distracted me and the squirrel was gone! He sure wasn’t much fun anyway.
I haven’t had any experience with cats, but I do like children. The one’s I have met have been over twelve because they are the grandchildren and come to visit. I really think they come to see me, but Mom says that isn’t so. They sure do like me though.
Okay, guess this is it for now. I have to go take my pills. I sure do love having pills because I get them in some chunky peanut butter. Love that stuff!
Original:
Hi, my name is George. I am a liver and white, intact, male. I came to my foster home from the Virginia Beach Animal Shelter. My owner, dropped me and my Lab sibling off, saying that she was being deployed to the Middle East. My foster Mom rushed to see me when she got the call that I was at the shelter. What she found was a muddy mess. It is believed that my owner left me outside in the mud and the rain. My fur had so much mud caked in it that it was hard as cement. Needless to say, Mom gave me two baths to get rid of some of the mud and then took me to the groomer. I am now handsome. I also made a trip to the vet, a really nice lady, who cleaned my ears and gave me some shots. I am now up-to-date on all my shots and don’t have any heart worms either. My vet doesn’t want to neuter me until I am over my Lyme Disease. Yes, I came to my foster Mom’s with a bottle of pills and some ear ointment that was never used. She has been giving me my pills, with some great tasting peanut butter, and I should finish them up by the middle of April. Then my vet says she will do the bloodwork, and if I am over my Lyme Disease, she will neuter me.
I met my foster Mom’s 15 and 12 year-old grandchildren and I liked them. I didn’t like it when I had my chewy bon,e but I only growled and they left me alone to finish it. I am said to be good with both children and cats. Mom says I walk pretty good on a leash, but I could use a little work. I do sit, give paw, and speak when I am asked to do so. I really like to ride in the car. Mom says I am a very good dog, and I like people. My favorite thing is to be scratched and petted. I am living with 5 other dogs and we all have a really good time. I did try to escape once when the door was opened, but Mom quickly retrieved me. I have learned that I must stay when the door is opened.
I am not very good in the crate. Mom tried it, and I was such a mess when she got home that I can now stay in the kitchen when they are gone. I am housebroken so she trusts me.
Well, guess this is it. When I get my clean bill of health (no Lyme Disease), I will write again.
Can you give George the love that he deserves?
