George is a four-year-old liver and white neutered male. He was rescued from a shelter along with his brother, Beau. We have heard that George and Beau’s original owner died and the boys were subsequently shuffled around to relatives until they ended up in the shelter because there was some problem between the last owner’s dog and George and Beau. (We have not seen any problems with George and other dogs, although he does not like to play wrestle with other dogs and will give a bit of a growl if the play gets too rough)
George went to the vet and is being treated with antibiotics for a minor cough and a lip fold infection. He also has some mild eczema, but it has already greatly improved with just one bath and good nutrition.
George is a very quiet, gentle, and sweet boy who wants everyone to love him. He is good with children, other dogs and cats, and is housebroken. He is a touch timid and looks mortified when you so much as raise your voice. George LOVES to play ball! His normally reserved demeanor vanishes when he sees a ball – he gets so excited he actually skips with the ball in his mouth! It is very cute! Like any Springer, he also likes long walks through the fields and believes that 56 pounds is not too big for a lap dog. And there is no such thing as too many belly rubs or too much cuddling.
George has not had any obedience training, so we are working with him on basic commands, walking on lead, and not jumping up to greet people. He needs a gentle touch with training because he is very sensitive to corrections. He is also very fond of the couch and bed – we are working on that too! Like Beau, he does not like to be left alone without a dog or human companion and will cry pitifully and dig in his crate if he is completely alone. However, if he sees that another dog or human is close by he is fine. (We think it would be best if George found a home with another dog.)
Is George that special Springer for you?
Update:
George found the family he has been looking for.
