Update: 10/30/2024: “His foster mom continues to help him adapt to the world and become more socialized.”
Much has remained the same in George’s world since last month. His foster mom continues to help him adapt to the world and become more socialized.
Recently George started taking medication to help support his anxiety while he navigates new people and experiences. It is too soon to see if it helps him, so check back on this very handsome boy’s progress.
Update 09/23/2024: “He is very emotional if scolded and will pout until his foster mom calls him over to make up.”
George loves dogs, cats, and his foster mom. He is being introduced slowly to his foster mom’s neighbors. George bonds strongly with one person and then appears to try to protect that person from what he sees as outside intruders. His foster mom says that George has been good in the house meeting workers and friends. When a friend came to visit for several days, George was fabulous with her and her dog.
George is a smart, loving boy who craves love. His foster mom suspects he would follow her through fire just to stay close to her. He is very emotional if scolded and will pout until his foster mom calls him over to make up. Aww! George learns quickly and does not repeat behaviors that register his foster mom’s disapproval.
George has learned the comfort of a couch and how to cuddle on the bed with his foster mom and resident dogs.
George’s dream home would be with his very special human who might have another dog or two and not a lot of company. George has so much love to give and wants desperately to receive that same love from his own special human.
Original: “With good house manners, George does not get up on the furniture and shows no inclination for inappropriate chewing.”
George had been purchased from a breeder during Covid and received little socialization in his Connecticut home because of the pandemic. When one of his owners became ill, George struggled having multiple caregivers coming into the house. Because of this major change in the household, George was relinquished to rescue and became a MAESSR boy.
This handsome pup is completely housetrained but doesn’t signal to go out. He can wait for long periods of time before making the trip outside to relieve himself. He is good in the crate when his foster mom leaves the house. While settling in at his foster home, George was kept loose in a bedroom and was fine. He was slowly introduced to the resident dogs so as not to overwhelm him. Now he greets the pack with a wagging tail. George has taken a strong liking to two pups that are also being fostered at the house. They run and play and chase each other which provides excellent exercise for all.
With good house manners, George does not get up on the furniture and shows no inclination for inappropriate chewing. Dogs are kept out of the kitchen in his foster home so it is unknown if he counter-surfs. He does not guard any toys and is not possessive of his food. He is fed in his room so he can eat in peace. George knows basic commands like “sit” and “come” and appears to be good off leash.
George was rather reserved at his vet appointment. He wasn’t open to being greeted by people in the waiting room and his foster mom restrained him during his exam and nail clipping. He hasn’t been to the groomer yet so it is unknown how he reacts to having his ears cleaned out or being bathed, combed, or trimmed.
This sweet boy would love an active forever home with another playful dog. By George, this may be the Springer for you!
