Freckles was turned in a shelter in Old Bridge, NJ after being found as a stray. He was taken to the groomer and has a short cut for summer. He weighs 52lbs and is about 22 inches high. He went to the vet and seems in good health and is up to date on all his shots. . He tested positive for lyme and is being treated aggressively with antibiotics. Freckles is a friendly boy who loves to be with people. He will lick you to death and thinks he can fit on your lap. He is eager to stay by your side.
Freckles has had some training and knows the basic commands and will sit and give you his paw. He must be walked on a pinch collar. When he has that on he walks great. Once that is not on he will pull you with all his might in his desired direction, and when he puts it in four-paw drive, he is incredibly strong. He will counter surf but gets down when told no. He will bolt out the door when it is opened, so his foster mom is working hard on this issue. He loves to go in the car and can get testy when it is time to get out of the car.
He is currently living with other dogs, but will do best as an only dog. He is very focused on being the alpha in the pack although will back down when put in his place. He will give toys for you to throw them and is fine if you move his dog food when he is eating.
He has been around children 8 and older and that would be the best placement. He is full of energy and is clumsy; therefore smaller children may get knocked over. He sleeps in a dog bed by the bed but when guests came for the weekend he stayed in the room guarding the 12-year-old boy. Freckles needs an active owner who will give him tons of exercise and spend time with him. He loves to run and play. Can you give Freckles the time and love he wants and needs?
