Original: “He does not realize how big he is and wants to get into everyone’s lap for a snuggle.”
Fletcher came to MAESSR from a most wonderful mom in Virginia. She had adopted him from a loving family in South Carolina who realized that their busy lifestyle was not fair for this non-stop boy. With an exceedingly heavy heart when she learned she needed surgery, Fletcher’s guardian angel passed him to MAESSR truly knowing that he would find a forever home fitting all his needs.
Fully housetrained, Fletcher uses the doggie door but will circle his humans to tell them he needs to go outside. He is fully crate trained but generally sleeps in the sunroom with the other dogs. This bouncing ball of fun gets along with everyone he meets. People as young as the five year old child in his foster home and their dogs and cats all are viewed as potential playmates to Fletcher. He has not met another dog he does not like and immediately gets to saying hello and playing with everyone he meets!
With his foster family’s help, Fletcher is learning proper house manners. He has not been seen showing any interest in the trash. Good boy! However, seeing as he is a very tall Springer, Fletcher finds it hard not to be inquisitive about what is to be found on the kitchen counters! He has his favorite blanket which he likes for sleeping, but has no guarding issues with that or food. He will pick up anything in his mouth just like a regular puppy but does not appear to chew or destroy anything – just brings it to the most friendly looking human around as a gift!
Fletcher is fantastic with the basic commands and shows great intelligence along with a fabulous sense of humor! He loves to go for walks and is good on a leash only pulling at first due to excitement and eagerness. He loves the vet and rides well in the car. He does not realize how big he is and wants to get into everyone’s lap for a snuggle. But, since he has great manners, he listens immediately if the object of his affections doesn’t want a fifty-two pound Fletcher sitting in his or her lap!
Fletcher is a fantastic, fun-loving boy and will be the best pet ever for the right family who can give him the love, attention, playtime, and exercise he needs. Please note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs under 1 year old to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 60 days of adoption. Fletcher will be a wonderful student!
What a wonderful time Fletcher and his new family will have this summer!!
