Original: “You might say Fitz had been a pampered pooch with a bath, nails, and a trim every 2 weeks.”
A very much loved and well cared for Fitz was relinquished by his Virginia parents who moved from the country into a third story condo in the city. His dad was able to take him out 3-4 times a day down 3 flights of stairs until Dad slipped and fell. Fitz’s parents asked MAESSR for help and personally delivered him to his foster home just to be sure he would be o.k
Fitz came into the foster house, was introduced to the senior lady Springer, and all went well. He proceeded to explore around and sure enough found the TOY BOX. In minutes he was wagging his beautiful tail, and his feathers were flying.
Fitz likes attention, wants to be beside his person at all times and wants his mom or dad to be touching him. He listens really well when he has his harness on and does not pull on the leash. Foster parents are working with him on riding on a utility vehicle—challenging as he wants to be touched all the time. However, he is fine in the car, tethered in the back seat
Fitz makes funny noises and howls sometimes in his sleep. He and the resident cat have made up, and once all is quiet and everyone is asleep, Fitz and the cat move into the bed with their foster family.
Fitz’s vet visit went really well. Of course all the staff made a fuss over him, and he loved it. They were sticking and poking him, but he didn’t even mind when they took his temperature. However in the examination, several lipomas were found, and the vet suggested they be aspirated. So the good folks gave Fitz a frozen peanut butter kong, and he never flinched– good boy! He likes going to the vet’s office ,even just to pick up food.
You might say Fitz had been a pampered pooch with a bath, nails, and a trim every 2 weeks! Therefore, his grooming was a piece of cake for him and the groomer! The groomer said he was fantastic, knew how to stand and everything.
As time has gone by with Fitz in his foster home, the senior lady Springer has been going deaf and when outside she goes wandering in the wrong direction. The foster parents ask Fitz to get her and he will go and head her back—thanks, Big Guy!.
Fitz would probably do best with a family without small children. He is a big boy and has always been around older people. But, he would fit anywhere he could receive a lot of love and attention. What a happy future some lucky family will have with this guy!
