Update 02/09/2013: “No matter what is going on around the house, Fiona is ready to join in.”
Fiona has moved a short distance down the road to another foster home where she’s continuing to regain her health. As in her original foster home, she continues to be a joy to everyone who meets her. Her house manners are wonderful and her counter-surfing has disappeared with her weight gain. Or, maybe it’s because her feeding schedule has been changed to three times a day and this little girl isn’t so hungry any more!
No matter what is going on around the house, Fiona is ready to join in. If things are quiet, she will happily entertain herself or just take a nap. What an agreeable pup!
Although still a little shy with strangers, Fiona is gaining more confidence every day, and her tail never stops letting you know how happy she is with her life. Fiona loves to cuddle and is convinced she’s a lap dog. She just asks for a little lovin’; then she’s happy to go on her way. Playful with the other fosters in the home, Fiona willingly shares her toys with them.
This is one sweet, loving girl who will be ready soon to move on to her forever home. Might it be yours?
Original: “Once in MAESSR’s care, her foster parents and their family vet immediately started to get her insulin levels regulated and to put some weight back on her.”
This sweet girl came to MAESSR from her Maryland owner as a very sick baby. Fiona had recently lost a lot of weight and was in poor body condition. Once in MAESSR’s care, her foster parents and their family vet immediately started to get her insulin levels regulated and to put some weight back on her. Since Fiona was always cold, her foster mom bought her a cute coat to warm her up. Check out the photos of this beauty wearing it! Pink IS her color!
Fiona has been so loving and cooperative for anything that her foster parents needed to do to her that it just made their hearts ache with wanting her to get better. Happily, Fiona has now gained ten pounds and is looking and feeling great! She probably needs to gain another five pounds or so and she will be perfect. The ear infections that she had when she arrived in foster care are all clear, too. At this time her vet feels that Fiona will probably be diabetic for the rest of her life. She receives insulin shots twice a day and is very cooperative when she gets them. You are such a good girl, Fiona!
Her house manners are good with the exception of counter-surfing. When it comes to this vice, Fiona is a superstar! As her health stabilizes, it is hoped that she will not be so intent on seeing what she can steal. This is her only bad habit.
Fiona LOVES to play with toys and almost always has one she is carrying around. She thought Christmas Day was totally awesome with all the new toys everywhere! Fiona gets along with other dogs and has a blast running and playing with those in her foster home. She rides well in the car and walks well on a leash.
During the first minute that she meets a new person, Fiona can be a little shy, but she is your best friend after that. She gives great kisses and just loves to be as close to people as she can get. In fact, at night, Fiona currently sleeps with her head on her foster mom’s pillow. How’s that for close?!
This is one very special lady who is looking for that special family who will love her and take care of her all her life!
