Original: “Finn is a very high energy young Springer who is as sweet as he is active.”
Young Springers can be a handful and Finn is no exception. This Jersey boy belonged to the husband in the family who subsequently passed away. His widow found Finn to be too much to handle and she stated that on social media. A friend saw this posting and agreed to take Finn on a trial basis. That too did not work out because of conflicts with the resident dogs. So, Finn became a MAESSR boy.
Finn is a very high energy young Springer who is as sweet as he is active. He loves running in the yard chasing butterflies and anything else that flies! Reportedly he was fond of swimming in the pool at his previous house. This four-legged high jumper can clear a five foot fence with ease; thankfully, he has not tried to dig his way out of his yard. Since he likes to engage the resident and other foster dogs in games of chase, he has basically stayed put in the yard.
Inside, Finn’s house manners need some refining. He will counter-surf and has tried chewing his dog bed. A firm “no” from his foster parents stops these behaviors. Finn is both housetrained and crate trained and he spends the night crated as well as when his people are away. He barks at things he hears or sees. Finn is learning that Springers need to keep four on the floor when meeting people; he has a tendency to jump up on people when he is excited. For that reason he may be too much for children.
Finn knows “sit” and listens in the house when not over stimulated. His foster parents have found he walks better with a walking harness than with just a collar. In the car, Finn needs to be tethered or crated as he likes to move around. He does not resource guard food or toys. It would be beneficial for both Finn and his forever family if he were enrolled in obedience lessons.
Finn’s ideal forever family would be one that enjoys outdoor activities as he needs to burn off energy on a daily basis. He is a loving boy who will easily bond with a family who is willing to work with him and give him lots of loving in return.
