This beautiful fieldie, Eva, hails originally from the Midwest. She has well-respected and accomplished field-bred English Springers on her family tree. At four months of age, she moved east and became part of a knowledgeable and committed family. Her future as a serious contender in field trial competition seemed bright. Her owner began teaching her the necessary skills and commands for the sport. In due season she went to some field trials. Eva lived in the house with her family and was loved. As she matured physically and mentally, her sweet, sweet temperament shined but her drive to hunt birds did not. At times she was timid around game and, oh, so very laid-back. With a lot of thought, her owner eventually felt Eva could be much happier as a pet than a competitor and contacted MAESSR. In short, he put her interests above his own.
Eva is completely at ease in a crate for travel and for safe containment in the dining room. She’s under close watch in the house so, so far, she’s accident-free. She follows the other dogs outside for pit stops and does her duty alongside them…good girl!!! She’s been on the grooming table at home briefly and accepted all touch and brushing with grace. She’ll do a vet visit soon for altering, chipping, etc. but, right now, short of gaining a few pounds, she appears in excellent health.
With just a few days in her foster home, Eva has won over her foster family, including another foster and the elderly resident ESS. She’s kind and gentle to the senior and has met the other foster appropriately. She’s quickly learning to sit for treats alongside them, and, is beginning to recognize that she too will receive hers, albeit last. Her foster mom has observed her throwing down perfect play bows. Unfortunately, the senior’s play days are past, and, the other foster just doesn’t know how to play. Perhaps Eva can teach him something!
There’s been hours of outdoor time for Eva since her arrival. She’s explored the perimeter on a long line. More often she’s been off leash on a half-acre of fenced field. Consistent with earlier priorities, Eva stays close to her people. She rarely explores off-leash more than 15-20 feet away.
In short Eva’s new beginning is off to a great start. She’s ripe for time with people who are snugglers too. She’s going to make someone a wonderful companion and pet!
