Sweet Emma’s spate of bad luck has come to an end now that she is a MAESSR girl. When her original family no longer wanted her, they gave her to another family who kept her for five months before placing her in a Pennsylvania shelter saying they no longer had time for her. Well, Emma knows that her MAESSR foster family has plenty of time and love for her and her extended MAESSR family is dedicated to find her a loving forever home.
After a trip to the vet, Emma is all up-to-date on her vaccinations. Although compliant, she was not crazy about her medical check up. Her foster family has found that she does not like her ears to be cleaned, either, although the groomer reports that she was good while being bathed, brushed, and clipped.
This laid-back senior is quiet in the house but enjoys her walks and loves to chase squirrels and rabbits in the yard. Very well-trained, Emma obeys commands such as “sit,” “lie down,” and “no-bark.” She also will “come” on command and her leash manners are excellent. If it is time for a car ride, Emma is a well-behaved passenger. Inside the house, she has lovely house manners and would never think of counter-surfing, trash-picking or chewing.
Although Emma has been crated in the past, this has not been needed in her foster home since she is trustworthy and loves to be around her people. When her foster family is out, Emma and the resident male dog are left in the family room, kitchen and basement (where crates are). A gate keeps them from the rest of the house; although they could easily knock down the gate, they have honored it. Emma’s foster parents think she would be fine given free run of the whole house but they just had it re-done and don’t want to chance it. At night Emma sleeps on the floor next to her foster dad; during the day, she enjoys napping in the family room.
Her foster family has a young male dog and he and Emma have basically gotten along well with only occasional squabbling over toys. Who says a Springer has to share?! The pair engages in some play and are content just hanging around each other. At mealtime Emma has a good appetite and is doing just fine on the eating schedule in her foster home.
When her foster parents’ sixteen month old granddaughter came for a visit, Emma was well behaved, interacting appropriately with her. The resident cat likes to keep her distance from new dogs, so, Emma has had only one quick encounter with the kitty. More observation will be done for close encounters of the kitty kind!
Playful, well-trained, a good walking companion, and very loving, Emma just needs a family of her own who will cherish her during her golden years. Adopting an active senior like Emma will prove to be a joy for some lucky family!
