Emily was turned over to MAESSR because her family moved to a place that does not allow pets. Emily is sweet and gentle, loving and beautiful. She has a wonderful temperament and is so happy just to be with her person. She will lay at your feet and loves belly rubs and having her ears rubbed and the spot under her chin scratched. She will sigh with contentment when she is with her person and near you.
Emily came from a home with seven children and did well with them. She is currently in a foster home that has a dog, and she is getting along OK with him. She does not get along with other dogs outside of the home and would do best as an only dog. In her previous home Emily lived quite successfully with cats. In her foster home she does bark at them through the window or on walks. We expect that she is a dog who makes a distinction between the “good” cats inside and those “naughty” cats outside. Much like many dog-friendly dogs, she will bark at dogs that walk by outside. Emily walks well on a leash but will occasionally pull. Emily does not get on the furniture unless invited up. She is a good eater and loves pig’s ears and milk bones. Emily also won’t take food off the table, but waits until it is given to her. She takes food very gently from a hand, and bones or chewies can be taken from her with no baring of teeth or growling.
Emily barks, growls and lunges at strange people and dogs when she is walking on the leash. We are working with her to break her of this. On occasion, Emily will get excited and when her foster mom comes home and will submissively urinate (a few drops). This does not occur every time and is very infrequent.
Is Emily the Springer for you?
