Elsa came into MAESSR’s care from a New Jersey shelter where she had been returned by a family that adopted her around the holidays. They said she suffered from separation anxiety although no evidence has been seen of this in her foster home. Prior to this adoption, Elsa had been found in the woods as a stray and never claimed. She was starving and severely matted. The shelter had to shave her to almost her skin to remove the mats. Now, Elsa’s coat is growing in nicely.
This pretty girl knows many basic commands such as no, sit, paw, off, lie down, go out, and leave it. Elsa goes for a couple of walks a day and although she does not pull on leash, she likes to be one step ahead of her person. With lovely house manners, Elsa does not counter-surf, trash dive, chew inappropriately, or beg for food at dinner time. She is completely housetrained, too. It is apparent that at some time in her life, someone had spent a great deal of time training her. Her foster parents are continuing to work with Elsa since she will jump on you if attention is not given immediately.
Elsa does gobble her food and water – probably a result from living in woods and having to fend for herself. At night, she sleeps in her crate, just whining for a few minutes before falling asleep. Having a preference for comfort, Elsa much prefers the sofa or chair to her dog bed or the floor! A true Velcro Springer, Elsa follows you from room to room, always staying close to one of her foster family members. She is quiet and calm in the house, but outside, Elsa loves to run and chase balls and birds. She gets along well with the other female MAESSR foster sister in her foster home and even disciplines her when she tries to counter-surf.
Elsa will be a wonderful addition to some lucky family!
