Elliott was turned into a New Jersey shelter after his female owner passed away and his male owner went into assisted living. He had been in and out of the shelter in the last year as people tried to keep him but were clearly not capable. During this time, Elliott suffered some neglect. He had a flea infestation when he came into foster care and a benign cyst on his head that the fleas had infected.
The amazing thing about Elliott is that he is ALWAYS happy and smiling. Even though he had a huge cyst that was bleeding and infected on the top of his head, he came to his foster home and walked in with a smile. Elliott had been neutered prior to his arrival and the neuter site was also infected. He was very swollen and in a lot of pain. Elliott was immediately taken to the wonderful vet who treats a lot of the Richmond area MAESSR foster dogs. He was started immediately on a high-powered antibiotic to get the infections under control. And while there, some testing revealed that Elliott was also Lyme positive, even though he was not showing any symptoms – poor boy!
After about ten days on the antibiotic, Elliott went back to the vet to have the nasty mess on his head removed. While he was under, the vet had to do further surgery on his neuter site. Elliott had significant surgery on both ends that day! He came home with a stitch line down the middle of the top of his head, but it was a 100% improvement. A few days after the surgery, Elliott was looking good and feeling great!
Elliott is such a sweet and gentle boy. Everyone that meets him just loves him. He has not had any accidents in his foster home and is just a joy to have around. He is a great car rider and walks well on a leash. This boy could fit into any home with no effort. Elliott has no special needs. With his infections cleared and the cyst gone, his greatest need is to be flea-free and loved for the rest of his life. Do you have room in your heart for him?
