Original: “This little girl is extremely sweet and cuddly, but she must get her exercise!”
Ella is a very high energy young girl that would guard things she had stolen. Her North Carolina family put a lot of work into training her, but just could not give her the level of activity that she needed. Before things got more out of hand, they made the difficult choice to let her come to MAESSR.
Ella is a real life example of “girls just want to have FUN!!!” She love to run and wrestle with the other dogs in her foster home. They start playing at 5:30 am and stop about 8 pm when everyone passes out from exhaustion. Ella also likes to chase tennis balls. Her foster mom recommends that her adoptive home have at least one other dog, preferably more to help keep her TIRED.
This little spitfire is crate trained and housetrained and will counter-surf every chance she gets! On a walk she pulls on the leash and definitely needs some leash training. Obedience training is definitely in her future. Note that MAESSR will require the adoptive family to take their new family member through a series of obedience classes within 90 days of adoption. MAESSR only places puppies – even older ones – in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience. MAESSR believes the decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment.
Ella sleeps on a dog bed in her foster parents’ room at night; she is also crated sometimes at night.
Once Ella started getting a lot of exercise, her tendency to guard things disappeared. Her foster mom has taken many things out of her mouth that puppies should not play with.
This little girl is extremely sweet and cuddly, but she must get her exercise! She will need a very active family and a fenced yard.
