Update 12/23/2018: “Einstein is just looking for a place to call his own. Will you welcome him into your house in the New Year?”
Since moving to a new foster home, Einstein has been successfully treated for a urinary tract infection and currently has medication in his ears that hopefully will finally clear the infection there. His skin is looking good…so he is almost ready to move to his forever home. His current foster mom also started him on an inexpensive supplement to help with his anxiety. He is much more comfortable now.
Einstein’s present foster home does not have so many “little people” toys lying around. He has done very well, but does love to snuffle around and see what he can find. He cannot resist taking children’s toys into his mouth. He is pretty good at giving them up and has calmed down, but the behavior is still annoying.
So, this senior citizen would do better in a home without young children and their toys. He will need a vigilant family to keep an eye on his ears and skin and to commit to maintaining his anti-anxiety medication for at least six months. Einstein is just looking for a place to call his own. Will you welcome him into your house in the New Year?
Original: “A docile gentleman that just loves spending time with his people, Einstein is happy being at his person’s side indoors or taking a walk to enjoy the day.”
Einstein was surrendered to MAESSR when one of his Pennsylvania owners passed away and the remaining family member had to move where she was unable to have pets. Obtained from a breeder, Einstein lived his entire life with the same family. Given the color of his coat, he is possibly a Welsh Springer Spaniel.
A docile gentleman that just loves spending time with his people, Einstein is happy being at his person’s side indoors or taking a walk to enjoy the day. He is good on a leash, does not pull, and likes to sniff in typical Springer fashion. When he meets other neighborhood dogs on walks, Einstein is very calm, does his doggie greeting, and doesn’t bark. Good boy!
Clearly Einstein has been loved with food and he should lose a couple of pounds. Thirty-five pounds is probably his ideal weight. He doesn’t counter-surf, but if something is left unattended at nose level, it will be consumed! Einstein has two fatty tumors on his belly that have been examined and are benign. He appears to have some allergies that need further investigation. He is now eating a grain-free diet, which will help with his weight and hopefully give him some relief from itchy skin.
Einstein is currently being fostered in a family that has a 6 year old child and an 8 month old, male Chihuahua puppy. He is very tolerant of the puppy’s antics and had no interest in the resident dog’s toys. He does however like small, plastic children’s toys like Legos, so his family is ever vigilant. If Einstein does get his “prize” that is not a suitable treat, he is handed a tasty dog biscuit and he will gladly trade for it.
Housetrained, Einstein has free-reign in the house. He is allowed on the furniture at his foster home and likes to sleep at the foot of the bed with his people. He has experience being crated for car rides and is a good passenger. He’s familiar with being groomed and having his nails cut by the groomer. He was compliant at the vet for his checkup.
Although Einstein’s world has changed dramatically, it’s clear that he is adaptable and has much love to give a new forever family. Might it be yours?
