Original: Eden is a West Virginia “Mountaineer.” She was found hanging around a municipal pool in the central part of the state. The authorities picked her up and placed her in the area’s shelter where she stayed, hoping her guardians would show up to claim her. Unfortunately, they did not. After the proper waiting period, Eden was visited by a MAESSR volunteer who pulled her from the shelter and provided a foster home for her. A lucky day for her!!
Eden was spayed immediately before leaving the shelter and is being watched very closely for a possible post-op infection. She is also making a good recovery from kennel cough. Though she was feeling a bit rough during the first few days in her foster home, she is pretty peppy now and challenging her foster dad to keep her quiet until the stitches come out!
Eden, or Evi, as she is known by her foster parents, seems to have been trained some but is not well housebroken at this time. Her foster family is working on this with her and expects success as she settles and regains good health. She is a bright, fun-loving dog who very much needs the security and love of a home. She has a good start by being able to curl up bedside on her favorite quilt at night. Each night she does the same routine, arranging the quilt just the way she wants it and in the same place. She would join her family on the bed, given the chance, but is accepting of being close.
Being close to people is important and Eden enjoyed the company of visiting family, who also were her dog sitters the first week she was in her foster home. As she becomes more secure in her new setting, leaving her alone while her family is at work will become part of the routine. She has a bright future. She simply needs some time to grow into her potential.
