Through no fault of his own, Eddie finds himself in MAESSR’s care looking for a forever home. His original owner had some pretty drastic life changes and realized that it was in Eddie’s best interests that he find him a home who could spend more time with him.
Eddie has had an excellent upbringing and the best care money can buy. He had some allergies when he was young and so he eats a grain-free food. There are several choices for grain-free foods all of which do cost a bit more than your typical food, but Eddie’s been itch free since he’s been put on this grain-free diet. Eddie likes his dry food mixed with something even tastier like grain-free wet food or green beans for added flavor. He also must have grain-free treats which can be purchased at the pet store or a natural food store. He even likes treats such as dried bananas. His original owner also cooked for him often making a mixture of venison, garlic, potatoes and vegetables and mixed that with his food, too. Of course, Eddie loved this! If he gets foods with grains in them, he starts itching, so these mixtures are all things that keep Eddie itch free! His coat is curly and full of beautiful ticking! It’s soft and healthy too, so this diet works wonderfully for him.
Eddie has done a little submissive urination, but that has totally been around being scared of the noisy resident dogs in his foster home. He’s coming around though and really starting to want to play with them. He quickly found the toy basket and is very pleased to be entertaining himself and attempting to single-handedly shred them all. He’s in for quite a challenge since the resident dogs think this is a very fun game as well!
Eddie meets new dogs very submissively and takes a little while to warm up. He is not a barker and he is excellent and quiet when crated. He sleeps bedside on his dog bed straight through the night. Eddie’s foster mom usually doesn’t let new foster dogs sleep in the bedroom on their first night due to the alpha dog not liking new dogs too close to him, but he was OK with Eddie since Eddie is so submissive, calm and very respectful of his warning growls when Eddie got too close. He has not had any accidents in the house and goes outside to potty. Eddie is not food aggressive in the slightest bit and doesn’t countersurf. He can’t be trusted off leash and needs work on the come and sit commands. While not particularly interested in birds, he does think squirrels and rabbits are for chasing!
For a 13-month-old boy, Eddie has great maturity in terms of his house manners and respect for dogs and people. He just needs to build his confidence in meeting new dogs and is getting those lessons in foster care. He is an extremely sweet boy and bonds quickly to his people. Within an hour of arriving at his foster home, he went off to a family dinner with his foster mom. He enjoyed this very much and loved all the fawning and attention. He also very clearly intended to stay right by his foster mom’s side and when she walked outside, he immediately went to the doors and windows trying to find her. Still very much a puppy, he is an excellent companion with an extremely sweet disposition.
Eddie has a beautiful spirit, great temperament, and handsome good looks. A total package, this boy is looking for a home that will continue to build his confidence and be his forever family.
