Easter is a beautiful, rich-brown, liver and white boy who was given up by his owners because they were traveling so much and couldn’t give him the care he deserves. They knew there would be someone out there who had lots of love to give Easter, so, they asked MAESSR to try and find that special someone.
Since Easter has been with his foster family on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, he has gotten up-to-date on all his shots, been neutered, and has almost finished medicine to treat for Lyme disease. He also had a little growth removed from his side. The fur there has almost covered it up already, so no one will ever know! Easter’s vet says he’s a really healthy guy.
This happy boy loves to go for long walks and is very good on a leash. He doesn’t pull or wander far from his people……..why would any dog want to do that??? His foster mother says he’s good in the house, too. He is very well housebroken, doesn’t get on the furniture, doesn’t jump on counters, and is not a trash picker. Easter doesn’t bark unless a dog is walking by.
This weekend a Brittany came to visit with Easter and his foster family. The two dogs got along very well…….Easter thinks he might like living with another dog. He is a little curious about cats but doesn’t live with one now. He enjoys meeting people. He doesn’t jump up on them and has been gentle around the children he’s met.
Easter loves to ride in the car. His foster mom gave him a nice haircut the other day and even brushed his teeth. He has discovered grooming feels really good and even likes the taste of doggy toothpaste! To top it all off, this fellow is pretty good with basic obedience commands. His foster family thinks he’s a very nice dog, and, everyone who meets him thinks so too, but..
Easter doesn’t like a dog crate…….at least when the door is latched. He sleeps in one at night, but the door is left open so he can come and go as he wishes. Sometimes Easter will growl and curl his lip when crated in the car. He will also do this when someone asks him to do something doesn’t want to do. Easter does not like to be left alone. It makes him so anxious that he will drool. Easter’s foster family is working very hard with him to stop this behavior and feels that it occur because he is afraidÂ
Easter will need a very special home if he is to overcome his fear.
