Original: “Dylan was the last to openly accept snuggling with humans but now he is very content wrapped up next to anyone’s neck for a little snooze.”
Dylan arrived in his foster home with three of his female littermates when their Maryland owner became ill and had to rehome the Springers in his breeding kennel.
Outnumbered from the start, he was the shyest of the pack. Two of her sisters moved to their permanent foster home and Dylan and his sister Darby settled into a carefree routine of puppy life. Up at 6 a.m., then go out to potty, then back in for breakfast. After breakfast there is play time and trips outside before nap time. After nap, it’s time for lunch then outside for playtime and back in for another nap and, before you know it, dinner is served followed by more trips outside and play.
Dylan was always the last out of the crate and usually had to be pulled out of the corner. Now he is so excited about going out and what the humans bring him that hiding in the crate is no longer his thing–unless hiding from Darby who steals his chewy. Dylan was the last to openly accept snuggling with humans but now he is very content wrapped up next to anyone’s neck for a little snooze. He is usually found next to his sister with his head resting on her body.
He is not crazy about the collar and leash but is getting used to having them on for some time each day, although he spends most of that time trying to eat his sister’s collar. He loves playing tug with his foster siblings. Dylan has fun in the yard exploring and likes to try to climb things, bringing back twigs and sticks to chew.
Dylan is working on his housetraining but there are so many distractions outside, he often comes in forgetting what was supposed to be left in the yard! He does listen to NO and will sit for a treat lifting his paw at you. Potential adopters should note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and younger to enroll their puppy in a series of obedience classes within 60 days of adoption. These classes will be a breeze for this sweet boy.
