Original: Dutch Boy was relinquished to MAESSR by a breeder in the Baltimore area along with another dog that the man no longer wanted. Dutch Boy had been living outside in a kennel and is on his way to a very new beginning. Better known as Dutchie by his foster family, this boy has had a very difficult start since leaving his original home. First, he went to the vet for a couple of days and was neutered while there. Next he went to a boarding kennel for a couple of days until a foster family was found for him.
Throughout the changes, Dutchie has been very sweet, affectionate and laid back. He is a little underweight and his foster mom is trying to adjust his food and eating habits to ensure better nutrition. He appears to be housebroken, but he doesn’t know what toys are or how to play. Whether this is a symptom of his Lyme’s status or just the consequence of being left outside without being taught to play is unknown, but he does try to track the invading bunnies in his yard!
This is the first springer his foster mom has ever met who is not motivated by food. This sweet boy’s motivation is a little snuggle and attention from humans, and, loving this boy is so easy. His foster mom will share more as he is evaluated over the next couple of weeks.
