Original: Dutch is a very energetic springer pup with beautiful markings. His previous owner felt it was best to surrender Dutch because he was spending long days in a crate while the owner was at school and work.
Dutch is housetrained and knows several basic commands such as “sit,” “shake,” and “go potty.” He has not done any trash picking but has taken a quick look-see at the counter a few times. However, he gets down right away when told “no.” Dutch still chews a little bit so his foster family provides him with appropriate toys lest he pick other things. He gets on the couch with his foster mom when invited to cuddle but otherwise does not attempt to hop up on furniture. Dutch rides well in the car once he settles down but is very fearful at first. Although he does not have any canine brothers in his foster home, Dutch gets very excited when he sees other dogs on his walks.
Dutch loves the 3- and 4-year-old boys in his foster family and is not at all aggressive towards them. Like many puppies though, he is a bit mouthy when playing and is unaware of his own strength. Dutch occasionally knocks one of the boys over and would probably do best if placed where children were just a bit older. Dutch would also benefit greatly from some obedience classes with his adopting family. Indeed, because of his age, taking some formal training after he joins his new family will be required. It can also be a lot of fun with a willing pup like this one.
Like most young springers, Dutch needs to be with people who will be able to offer him lots of attention and lots and lots of exercise! Whoever adopts Dutch will be getting a real diamond in the rough and one with great potential to be a true gem!
