Dutch has been living outside for the last two to three years. The neighbors got Dutch’s owners to turn him over to them. They then took him to the SPCA. The neighbors complained that the dog was barking outside.
We don’t know much about Dutch yet. He is thought to be good with other dogs and cats. We don’t think he is crate-trained. He was in the house for a year before being put outside. He can probably be housebroken pretty quickly. He will just need to be reminded.
He is a sweet dog who just needs someone with some time and patience for him.
From Dutch’s foster mom:
Dutch is here, and what a sweetheart. We have had no accidents in the house. (He is the one that you were not sure if was housebroken, right?) He goes to the door when he wants to go out. Granted, he does want to go out a lot, but I would rather a lot than not enough. I did a little grooming on him. He laid down and turned over so I could get his stomach. He had a bath and smells much better now. I trimmed his nails and cleaned his ears. You can tell that all of this is new to him, but once you get started, he thinks it feels great and just lets you do whatever you want. Dutch has beautiful markings, he is a very attractive young man. He has nice house manners. He is horrible on a leash. He seems to know sit. He rides really well. He gets along with everyone in my gang. He has not shown much interest in the cat. He really seems to like water. He is figuring out how to play with toys.
Update:
Dutch has gone to his new home with his own kids and his own yard.
