Original: “He plays tug of war with his rope toys and can turn anything he finds into a new toy—clever and creative Dusty!”
Although it is rare for MAESSR to have puppies for placement, Dusty and his littermate Skylar came into MAESSR’s care when a Springer breeder in Maryland developed serious health problems and had to rehome his dogs.
Dusty is a character– exactly as one would expect a puppy to be–very curious, full of energy, proud of his bark; he loves climbing the stairs, and has learned a flying leap courtesy of his human foster sister that is for sure his new favorite trick!
If his sister is getting any attention, he jumps right in to makes sure his foster family doesn’t forget about him–as if they could, with his super loud bark and speedy run to the food bowl!
As a typical Springer puppy, Dusty is still working on sitting and staying, but knows “kennel up.” He is fine with having the leash on but walks in a zig-zag pattern and is hard to maintain. He is getting better each day with housetraining and sleeps in his kennel at night and when his foster family is not at home.
Note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience. MAESSR believes the decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. It will require the adoptive family to take Dusty through a series of obedience classes within 60 days of adoption.
Dusty likes the yard but prefers to run up and down the porch stairs. He likes to dig for rocks and sniff the recycling bin! He plays tug of war with his rope toys and can turn anything he finds into a new toy—clever and creative Dusty!
Mr. D falls asleep in the car and reportedly was sweet and affectionate during his vet visit.
Dusty is a snuggler, very sweet, and smart. This fellow is all boy and will soon be looking for a lucky family to play tug of war with him and help him find new rocks and toys–lucky and happy, Dusty!!
