Original: “He likes to meet other dogs on his walks but he is still timid towards people he does not know.”
When Ducky’s Virginia owner and breeder died, Ducky became a MAESSR boy according to his owner’s wishes.
Ducky is a sweetheart who loves everyone! Meeting people he knows or other dogs, his tail is always wagging. For a former kennel dog, Ducky’s house manners are good. He is coming along very well with his housetraining and hasn’t had an accident in the house in the last week. At this point Ducky doesn’t really signal so he is taken out on a schedule. His foster mom doesn’t crate him and he and the resident Springer are free to roam the house when she is gone. He sleeps on a dog bed in the master bedroom.
This handsome boy does well on the leash and enjoys being walked. He likes to meet other dogs on his walks but he is still timid towards people he does not know. Ducky likes to jump up on his foster mom and she is working on changing that behavior. Oh, Ducky is a good co-pilot in the car.
Both Ducky and the resident Springer are fed in separate bowls in the bathroom. Ducky gets his meds in his bowl and eats them right down. Having another dog in the house has been great for Ducky. His new pal is teaching him boundaries and Ducky catches on quickly. He is smart and has good energy level.
Ducky arrived in foster care with some skin infections for which he is receiving antibiotics and weekly medicated baths. The medicated shampoo has to be left on for ten minutes and Ducky stands and waits patiently. What a good boy! Ducky was diagnosed with chronic dry eye at his vet appointment. Now he gets a medicated gel applied to his eyes twice a day and he will continue receiving them for life. His foster mom has seen an improvement in his vision since he began receiving this eye treatment. He used to bump into thing but not now! Ducky is good about having his ears cleaned. The vet cut his nails and the techs reported he did not like being crated between procedures. The urinary tract infection he arrived with is now cleared up.
After he is neutered, Ducky will be ready to join his forever home. He is a great dog! Make him yours!
