Update 03/10/2013: “This former outside farm dog loves being an inside girl now, although she still loves some quality outside time.”
Dorie is thriving at her foster home. This former outside farm dog loves being an inside girl now, although she still loves some quality outside time. When it’s time to go outside, Dorie jumps around and barks with excitement. This good girl is free to be outside off leash because she comes when called. When she visits her foster family’s farm, she and her canine pals really enjoy some fun off leash time together.
When Dorie is ready for adoption, she could possibly join a family with cats. At her former home, it seems that she and an indoor cat co-existed nicely; they even snuggled together in her dog house outside. On the other hand, she would chase the outdoor cats. So, she’s a bit selective with her feline friends.
A sweet, fieldy Springer with beautiful markings, Dorie is a true Velcro girl who loves people.
Original: “Dorie has been a lovely houseguest for her foster family– a perfect dog with no bad habits!”
When Dorie and her family moved from their Pennsylvania farm to a small apartment in the city, she did not take well to the move. Since she was used to the freedom of the farm, Dorie was very unhappy without a yard to run in. Recognizing this, her owners reached out to MAESSR to find their beloved Springer a loving new forever family whose home had a yard for her to run and play in.
Dorie has been a lovely houseguest for her foster family– a perfect dog with no bad habits! She does not bark, counter-surf, or dig in the yard. Housetrained, Dorie signals her need to go out by standing in front of the door. She does not like to be crated and is fine when given free roam of the house all day when her foster parents are at work. When sleeping, Dorie has an active dream life and will sometimes kick her hind leg as she chases phantom squirrels in her sleep!
A real lover of people, Dorie is a true Velcro girl She wants to be around her people whether outside or in. She is fine off lead, staying on the property and coming when called. If a walk requires her to be leashed and she moves ahead of her person, the words “stay by me” put her back by her person’s side. If a car ride is in order, Dorie is a good passenger. In her former life on the farm, she would even go for rides on a motorcycle—a MAESSR first!
Dorie enjoys an active life. She likes the water and swimming. She enjoys long walks and will run with her person off leash. “Fetch” isn’t her thing, but she responds to “sit,” “lie down,” and “out.” When excited, Dorie turns in circles and when she comes to you, she curves her body in a U shape. What a happy cutie!
Life for Dorie is full of love and delight! Let her fill your heart with joy.
