Dora was found as a stray in Williamsport, PA and had been in the Lycoming Co. ASPCA since 5/14. When her foster family visited her, she didn’t bark but only pawed at the gate as if to say, “Please take me out of here!”
She behaved extremely well, never a whimper or growl. She weighs almost 45 lbs. Dora did a wonderful job at the vet’s. She was diagnosed with a yeast infection in her ears which she is being treated for and her anal gland had to be expressed. The vet said she may need regular attention for both.
Her temperament couldn’t be better! She’s very confident but not aggressive. She’s housebroken and has been crated during the day when her foster family is at work and at night to sleep. They come home over the noon hour to let her out, and she goes back into the crate without a fuss. All that she needs is a treat and a guiding hand on her collar.
Her foster family takes her over to their our neighbor’s fenced in yard to play. The neighbor has two Dalmatians and a Bassett, and the foster family takes their 3 dogs and they all get along. The foster family has 2 cats that she would like to chase, but they don’t run very often. If they do, she has a merry time until they climb on the nearest bed or window sill. So far, she hasn’t gotten up on the furniture, and it is not being encouraged. Dora has met all of the neighborhood, including the children, and loves them all.
Dora tends to clean up everyone’s food dishes, so she is fed her by herself. She knows sit, down and shake. She has a tendency to paw or jump up when she wants attention, so we don’t ask her to shake anymore. All in all, Dora is a lovely springer with a zest for life and a heart full of love. She loves to snuggle and would make a wonderful companion for anyone!
Update 7/15/03:
Dora found a family to snuggle with.
