Domino came to MAESSR from a shelter in western Pennsylvania. He came to the shelter as a stray with every parasite known to man. His family was located but they did not want him back and poor Domino came within hours of being put down because the shelter was over-crowded and he was considered less adoptable because he is an older dog. Fortunately for Domino, MAESSR recognizes the value of a more senior dog. MAESSR volunteers stepped and, in true MAESSR style, sprung into action to transport him to his current foster home.
Domino was treated to a day at the doggy day spa and is much more lovable since he smells better. The groomer reported that he was a very good boy. His paws needed a lot of attention, and he did not enjoy the manicure/pedicure portion of the spa treatment as much as one would hope although the groomer said he was still well behaved.
Domino is settling in at his foster home nicely. With the exception of a few marking incidents that are now resolved, Domino has proven to be quite the gentleman. He is housebroken, but has not yet been crate tested. He loves being petted and will sit as long as possible with his head on a lap, soaking up as much love and attention as possible. Domino is very nice to his canine foster sister and is appropriately deferential since she was here first. He walks very well on a leash but does like to walk at a fairly brisk pace if allowed. Domino has not yet met a stranger on his multiple daily walks – only potential friends. He wants every single passerby to acknowledge what a handsome boy he is and give him a little bit of loving.
And speaking of handsome, Domino is really a very handsome boy. He has so many freckles his foster mom thinks he could be a contender for the title of “Most Freckles” at the annual MAESSR picnic. Domino would be glad to ride there with his forever family since he is great in the car. He just snuggles up and goes to sleep so he can be ready for the fun when he arrives.
His health is very good with the exception of being a bit thin. Domino has a voracious appetite so his foster mom knows that he will be at a good weight in no time. Once he gets to 55 pounds, he can be neutered and will then be ready to go to his forever home. His foster mom is in the process of assessing his hearing as he has not been responsive to any commands. Perhaps he can’t hear them.
If you are ready to adopt the only dog likely to unseat the long-term title holder for most freckles, please fill out your application today! You won’t just be wowed by Domino’s handsome exterior; you will see a senior boy who has inner beauty as well. He’s waiting for you.
