Updated 11/6/06: Domino continues to be a delightful house guest in his foster home. He has met some of the neighbors too and got to spend some time with a five-year old. Domino was wonderful with the child. Being a youngster himself, Domino is excitable. Some supervision is appropriate when he plays with little people, but it was easy to see that he’s not at all bothered by them and would enjoy their company.
His adorable little face is really quite capturing. Give Domino a second look and he’ll be headed right home with you.
Original: Domino is a charming and incredibly energetic young Springer who was left in a night drop pen at a West Virginia shelter. Exhibiting all the behavior of a youngster, he is exceptionally playful and loves attention. He is not shy about crawling up on the bed or sofa with his foster parents for a cuddle. He enjoys being outside but is best on a leash when not fenced in. Domino still needs to learn that main roads, and cars, are dangerous. Riding in the car makes Domino a bit nervous, but he settles down shortly after getting underway. He would prefer sitting in front next to the driver rather than staying in the back seat by himself, so a tether, or crate, to keep him and everyone else safe helps when traveling. He enjoys playing with other dogs and is thoroughly intrigued by cats. He won’t hurt them; he just wants to play.
If given the opportunity Domino loves to counter surf . He also likes to get into the litter box and cat food when he can, so his foster parents watch him carefully and are trying to modify these habits. Domino is housebroken and makes it known when he needs to be walked. Since it appears that he has not been crated in the past, his crate training has started so he can become comfortable with spending some time in his own space. When his foster parents are gone, they crate Domino. When they are home, he enjoys run of the house. Since he has a tendency to chew, adequate toys are essential. Rope bones and hard plastic toys are his favorites currently.
Domino is an excellent patient at the vet and does not exhibit any food aggression. His temperament overall is outstanding and he will make an excellent addition to any family with the time to take care of a puppy. He understands some basic commands but will need continuing reinforcement and instruction in order to master them all.
Are you ready to take this diamond in the rough into your home and heart? He’ll be a gem for your family to treasure!
