Original: Dolly is an extremely sweet young Springer who was pulled from a WV shelter by MAESSR volunteers. She is the perfect little lady who prances about the house and loves to be petted, scratched, and rubbed.
At 25 pounds and 10 months old, Dolly is very small-framed and will likely be a small adult. Her foster parents have a suspicion she was given human food in the past since she was not initially enthusiastic about her dog food. Even though Dolly doesn’t have a voracious appetite, it is improving. Dolly shows little to no interest in treats, but her foster family has searched to find items she enjoys.
Dolly is doing exceptionally well with her house training with only two accidents early on. She rushes outside to do her business and quickly returns to the comforts of A/C as soon as possible! She understands the importance of being comfortable! Dolly is a well-behaved housemate. She has not exhibited any impulses to chew any off-limits items. However, she has become the resident burglar by picking up items and carrying them to new locations. Hide-and-go-seek, anyone? If food is within smelling range and is close to the counter’s edge, Dolly attempts to counter-surf. Her small stature prevents too many treasures from reaching her grasp and her foster parents are working on correcting this behavior. She has shown no interest in the trash cans or litter boxes, though.
Dolly does not jump on people when they enter the room or when she is released her from the crate. She walks well on a leash and wants to be where people are. Dolly also knows how to sit for a treat. Further obedience classes will make her a perfect companion. While Dolly enjoys sharing a room with her foster parents, she quickly busies herself and rests in her favorite nook created by the living room sofa and love seat. Dolly does not need constant attention or entertainment. She is adjusting to being crated when her foster family is not at home. When first placed in the crate, she does whine and bark even if her foster parents are in bed beside her. She’s a good passenger traveling very well in the car.
Dolly is wonderful with the three resident kitties and the resident Springer. She will give the cats an occasional sniff, but for the most part she totally ignores her feline foster siblings. Although Dolly wasn’t initially interested in playing with her housemate springer, she slowly is warming up to the idea of playing. Dolly has a wonderful, perky temperament with adults. She did meet 3-year-old twins in a local park and she was very well behaved with them. Dolly’s kind nature would lead her foster family to believe she would love kids, although she has had no long-term exposure to children at this time.
Wouldn’t you like to play with this sweet Dolly?
