Dodger came from a shelter in West Virginia. They had him listed as a mix. We think that the long tail confused them and that he is a full Springer. We don’t know anything about his past. He is a very skinny boy.
We do know that Dodger loves people and other dogs. He will chase a cat, so he will have to go to a cat-free home.
Dodger is very small and thin but he only needs to put some muscle on him. He is very calm and sweet. Dodger does not complain when you check his ears and teeth and stood nicely while his foster mom brushed him (much better than my own dog). He knows sit, down and will shake paws and has already learned where we keep the treats!
Dodger pulls a bit on the leash but not too badly. His foster home has three children, the youngest is six, and Dodger is fine with him. Their dog Cassie (1-year-old) seems to be more interested in him than he is in her, but he has tolerated all the sniffing very well.
Dodger has shown no interest in toys. If you throw him the ball when outside, he just looks at it. Balls are Cassie’s favorite thing so maybe after she shows him what fun it is he will get the idea. Yesterday, he did lift his leg several times in the house but so far so good today. He slept perfectly fine in the crate last night. Not one noise. He was not thrilled to go in the crate, but once in there he was fine. During the day he did cry when he was in the crate if he could see us walking around. No attempts yet to get on the furniture, and he doesn’t jump on people to often.
This good boy would be a great addition for a family with children.
