Original: “This little gal as learned to do a cute combination of a yodel-howl if she needs to go out for business.”
Diamond 2 became a MAESSR girl when her Virginia kennel owner passed away.
Health wise, Diamond had a severe ear infection and whipworms. Several teeth have significant plaque accumulation. The ear infection was in both ears and successfully treated with an antibiotic. The whipworms have been treated with a five- day course, with follow up deworming due in August and November.
Aside from the ear infection and whipworms, Diamond is otherwise in good health. She is under weight, but should gain post whipworm treatment and with good nutrition. She is currently fed kibble, canned food and poached chicken breast which she loves. Out of the variety of treats tried, Diamond’s specific favorite is the milk bone biscuit.
Diamond is a quiet, sweet Springer who has quickly adapted to living in a home. She crates well and currently sleeps at night in the crate. She is doing very well with housetraining. She is kept in the crate for unsupervised periods. She was introduced to a room of the house for supervised periods; soon, the room expanded to two rooms. She now spends evenings in the family room with the resident Springer and foster mom. Diamond has had no accidents in the house. She has not even made an attempt to go in the house. This little gal has learned to do a cute combination of a yodel-howl if she needs to go out for business.
She has no bad habits. Diamond does not dig or chew in the house or out in the yard. The only item she has tried to chew is her leash when mom is not paying enough attention to her. She has a very sweet, friendly personality. She adores having a home and a human and has readily bonded to her foster mom. She loves to cuddle and be held. Her goal is to be with her human one hundred percent of the time. She has done well meeting humans and other dogs. Although quiet, she has quickly become the boss of the resident male Springer.
Diamond learns quickly. She has already learned a recall and walks well on leash without pulling. She struts in heel position. For a foster mom who has been pulled into every bush, lamp post, and flower bed by all the resident Springers over the years, a gentle Springer strutting in heel position has been a special treat! She has recently shown an interest in counter-surfing to scoop a piece of something, but readily responded to no-no.
Diamond has enjoyed being bathed. She is great with her ears being cleaned, her teeth being brushed, and her body being washed. She has been introduced to the hair brush and does well with being brushed. Diamond does well with car rides – both long and short. She rides in back of SUV crated. Soon she will be introduced to the seat harness.
This pretty girl will fit into almost any type of home. She will bond to her person or family. Love and affection are what she wants. And she clearly has shown that she has much to give in return.
