Update: 4/15/03:
Davis is now heartworm negative. Now that he is feeling better he is running all over the place and just having a ball. He will be neutered shortly.
Davis is UTD, HW+, has the worst ear infections I have ever seen, extremely skinny due to the hookworms and whipworms he had when he came into foster care.
Davis and his brother came into rescue from the Henrico Co Animal Control office in Henrico, VA. They had been picked up as strays. It was obvious from observing both of them that they had NEVER had anyone be nice to them.
Davis is one of the sweetest springers I have encountered. He currently does not feel very well…but begs to be loved. If you quit petting him, he will just lay his head in your lap, as if to say “just a little more please”. He allowed my two-year-old grandson to lead him around by the collar, just so he could get attention. He is extremely gentle. Whoever decides that they have enough love for Davis is in for a lifetime of love.
I would bet my life that Davis or Elmer had never seen the inside of a house. Davis has not had any accidents in the house. He is very careful to wait until he goes outside to do his business. You can tell that he does not want to mess anything up..and not get to stay inside any longer.
I had to shave off all of Davis’ hair. He was so badly matted there was no way to save the hair…so please take that into consideration when looking at his pictures. He is going to be a very handsome boy when he gets healthy and his hair grows back. Please keep Davis in your thoughts as he goes through the treatment for heartworms.
