Original: “Ever have a dog that just captures your heart? That is David.”
This special boy is AMAZING. Ever have a dog that just captures your heart? That is David. This boy walked into his foster family’s lives right after they lost their senior permanent foster. He has been so special, providing them love and comfort as they grieved.
David became a MAESSR boy when a Maryland kennel was closing and MAESSR offered to help with the placement of the remaining dogs. Poor David has been battling recurrent/persistent urinary tract infections since coming to MAESSR. Hopefully, they will eventually get cleared. David had a dental with several teeth removed. He was infested with hookworms, whipworms, and cappelaria when he came into foster care. He has since been cleared of those nasty critters.
Well-trained, David knows “sit,” “stay,” “crate,” and “leave it,” and he comes when called; he is such a smart, responsive boy. David walks perfectly on a leash. His foster mom believes he would be a perfect candidate for becoming a therapy dog since he has a soothing personality – he never even barks! (Well, maybe when there are more than 2 squirrels on the deck!). He is housetrained and knows how to use the dog door. Sometimes, David will go into his crate for a rest, but at night, he sleeps on a big dog bed in his foster parents’ bedroom.
Greeting everyone with ease, David even let babies grab his muzzle at an outing to a festival. Everyone he passed got some love from him. And he LOVES a car ride! Anywhere, anytime! When he is going for a walk and he passes his car, he will stop hoping for a ride!
David loves toys – of any and all sizes! He loves a good game of fetch, particularly of a ball and squeaky toy! Recently, a foster puppy joined his pack at his foster home and David has been fantastic with the pup. They play together quite a bit, but David also put him in his place when the puppy was “too much.”
This boy would be a wonderful addition to ANY family! David is one of the sweetest dogs you will meet.
