Dave came to MAESSR from New York after he ended up in a shelter as the result of an animal cruelty case. He had been living outside (yes, in this nasty cold weather). MAESSR has not learned any more details of the case, but that is cruel enough. Poor Dave had extremely infected ears and eyes. His hair was matted to the skin in many places. The shelter staff were trying to work with him, but he was extremely frightened and would growl at them (especially when they tried to treat his ears). MAESSR arranged for a professional transport service to get him in New York and take him to his foster home in Virginia. One of MAESSR’s regular transports might just have been too much for him.
This now lucky fellow has been to his foster home’s vet. A special formula of ears meds was put in Dave’s ears to stay for ten days. It has made a world of difference for him. Now that he does not have people constantly fussing with his sore ears, he is much more trusting. He was completely shaved down to get rid of all of the matted, dead hair. He has a cute coat that he wears around to keep him warm. His foster mom took it off to wash and he was devastated. He was really glad to get it back, all toasty warm from the dryer.
Dave has come a LONG way in one week. His foster mom can now touch him anywhere…do anything to him, and he is just grateful for the attention. On a nice snowy Saturday, he learned the joys of taking a nap with his foster parents in the big bed. He is now hooked on the good life….he wants to be in the big bed every chance he gets. His foster mom has been pleasantly surprised to find that MAESSR’s new boy is totally housetrained. Dave has not had one accident in the house. He has not counter-surfed or trash dived. Davie loves riding in the car. He does pull some on the leash, but not too badly.
This guy has a wonderfully loving side that he is just dying to share with his new family. If you are looking for a really nice boy that will show you how great the good life is, then Dave is for you. He’s looking handsome in his new coat and is the rags-to-riches story of this cold, cold winter.
