Dashiel went to his forever home!
Original:
Dashiel is a sweet, approximately two-year-old male who was picked up at a campground after either being lost or dumped. He was turned over to the local dog warden who turned him over to MAESSR. He has been recently neutered, and his “cherry eye” surgically corrected. He appears to have been an outside dog due to the bleaching of his beautiful liver hair, but he’s enjoying life indoors with just a few marking incidents.
Dashiel rarely counter surfs, and responds to a short “no”. He also leaves the garbage alone and does not climb up on the furniture. He will jump up on people, and we are working on this. Dashiel gets along great with his five-year-old human foster brother and his three canine foster brothers (13 yr and 10½ yrs English Cockers and 2 years cocker mix neutered males). He loves having a playmate and things can get pretty wild when the two youngsters start running in the house. Dashiel is very responsive to verbal correction. He is sensitive to displeasing you, and he has cowered a couple of times if voices are raised. He knows how to “sit”, but most other commands are still a mystery. He is not at all food or toy aggressive and will let people and other dogs take things from him. He is unknown with cats and will try to chase our rabbits, if loose. If leashed, he generally just lies there and watches them. He is reported to not have bothered a large cat at the pound, and he ignored the cats at the vet’s office.
Dashiel pulls on the leash but is smart enough not to pull while wearing a prong collar. He has been crated for short periods during the day and at night without issue. The first two nights, he slept quietly in the crate in our room with the other dogs, but he prefers to sleep on a dog bed or the floor. Dashiel is somewhat laid back for a two-year-old. He will run and play like mad with our youngest, then conk out and sleep. He will need some amount of exercise and activities.
