Update 03/08/10:
Though relinquishing a pet is rarely an easy step, a plus for the dog is that lots of info can be sent along with him when he moves to his MAESSR foster family. This can help the dog settle into his foster home more quickly. Later, when he meets his adopting family, knowing what the dog really, really likes helps him feel welcomed and loved by the new people in his life.
So, this is the latest on Dash, coming mostly from his surrendering family as they shared with his foster family.
Dash loves bubbles and will chase and eat them. He loves to jump high to catch them. Usually you will have to make him stop because he loves this activity so much. He also likes bites of bananas; if anyone is eating a banana, he will usually sit and stare until he gets a piece.
He also loves playing in the slip and slide, the water sprinkler, and loves to drink from the hose. The wetter he gets the better he is. He likes to cuddle and loves to be scratched behind his ears. His passion is chasing birds from tree to tree and trying to find them. He loves rawhide bones but always tries to eat them in one day, so they usually have to be taken away after a while. Also, he is a great deer-part finder and loves to share those with you at the front door!! He likes peanut butter sandwiches.
With the inside scope on Dash, he is settling very well into his foster home, and, he will be tickled to pieces if his adopting family has peanut butter in the cupboard and water to play in when he arrives at their home!
Original:
Dash was relinquished to MAESSR when his owner’s grandchildren moved in with him and Dash was too exuberant for the children who are under the age of 12. The owner made the extremely difficult decision to allow MAESSR to find Dash a new home.
This handsome boy is an inside dog who is housetrained. At night, he sleeps in his crate with the door open. He is given free run of the house when his humans are not home. He does get on the furniture. As a youngster, Dash would counter-surf but has not exhibited that behavior in quite some time. He does beg for food, though.
Dash is not a digger, chewer and does not submissive urinate. He knows the commands “sit” and “come”; sometimes, he will “stay.” When strangers come to the house, Dash does bark and is a bit aloof. Once he has the chance to get to know them, he regards them as friends. Generally, he does not jump on people. When on lead, he will pull at first, but then, he does settle down. Dash loves car rides, so he will always be ready to go for a spin!
Soon, Dash will be ready to go to his forever home. This active yet good boy is ready to give his new family a lifetime of love and companionship.
