Original: “Dallas has so much to say at times, but his foster family finds that so endearing.”
This past July, the MAESSR family oversaw the birth of a litter of beautiful pups (Dallas 3 and six sisters) who are now being readied for their forever homes.
Dallas has a spunky, brave, and sweet personality; he’s very interested in being with people. He will play and follow his littermate and the resident Springer around. This little cutie has no issue expressing himself with noises and barks. He is not afraid of the vacuum, doorbell, or various sounds.
Still working on potty training, Dallas is not great at expressing a need to go outside but gives “a look” when he needs to go. There are still some accidents. When he does go to the bathroom outside, Dallas receives cookies for this awesome behavior. It seems that he has really been “getting” potty training these past two weeks.
Dallas mostly sleeps by himself in a crate with a blanket both inside the crate and over it. He also occasionally gets to sleep with the humans of the house and resident Springer in bed. He has no issue with the crate, although he is very “outspoken” and will bark for a bit (less than 3 minutes, if at all) when put to bed/left in the crate for a few hours if there are no humans at home.
When traveling to the vet’s office, Dallas and his sister ride in a crate together in the back seat of the car. He seems to enjoy going for a ride.
For fun, Dallas loves being in the yard to run and play. He’s very interested in the wooded areas. He’s very happy to play tug of war and a good game of chase with his sister and the resident Springer. Naturally, Dallas is a puppy, so he’s very mouthy (but this behavior is decreasing) with biting and chewing; his new family will need to be very mindful of shoes and anything that isn’t a dog toy. His foster family has found that Benebones, yak cheese sticks, weezey toothbrushes, and bully sticks help immensely with chewing urges.
Please note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience. MAESSR believes the decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. It will require the adoptive family to take Dallas through a series of obedience classes within 90 days of adoption. Smart boy that he is, he’ll likely be at the head of the class!
Dallas is a funny boy. He loves to play and explore. He makes the cutest noises and is always on the move. He loves to cuddle with his sister and have a good wrestling match. Even at his age you can tell that Dallas is not afraid to play with larger dogs. His favorite toys are chewy and squeaky.
Dallas has so much to say at times, but his foster family finds that so endearing. He is absolutely fearless and will leap from couch to couch in a single bound. When settling down after a long day of high energy, Dallas becomes a cuddle monster. He loves to curl up by his foster parents or with the older Springer.
Can’t you just picture Dallas cuddling with you beside a crackling fire this winter?
