Original: Dallas came to MAESSR after living outside at his North Carolina home for the last two years. He was absolutely thrilled to be back in a house and has shown perfect house manners! This loving boy just wants to be with his people no matter what they are doing. He even jumped into the shower with his foster mom one morning! Dallas loves to sleep in the bed with his foster parents, too. He is crate trained, but it is really not a necessity. It was reported that Dallas would get car sick in his previous home, but he has done very well in his foster home when he goes for a car ride.
When he went to the vet for his check-up, Dallas tested highly positive for Lyme’s disease and mildly positive for ehrlichia. He has not shown any symptoms of either disease so it not being treated. Symptoms of these diseases are lethargy and stiffness in the joints; however, he may never display any symptoms. If he does display them, the vet would just treat him with 30 days of an inexpensive antibiotic. This should not be a big worry for his newly adoptive home. Dallas is also being treated for an ear infection. He is very healthy in all other regards. Since he was a bit anxious about some things, Dallas was started on an inexpensive medication to help him adjust to all of the transitions in his life.
This boy knows several commands and is very well behaved. Dallas does not mind being groomed or handled all over although he is not always totally thrilled to take a bath. That is not a big issue, though.
Dallas has a heart as big as Texas and he is looking for a family to share it with.
