Updated 11/05/2022: “New words in Daisy’s repertoire include ‘outside’ and ‘go to the bathroom’ which makes the last task of the evening easy.”
Daisy is thriving in her foster home. Previously a bit shy, she now enjoys meeting every person and dog that comes her way. She has now been exposed to children as young as one and would do well with younger children with supervision.
Daisy loves to give chase to deer, squirrels and foxes so care needs to be followed if she is let off leash. She does not try to jump the fence (as she can’t) and once they scamper away, she stops and returns.
Her foster parents continue to work with Daisy on housetraining, but accidents are few and she is making amazing progress. She is taken out frequently and has learned to signal; this consists of standing by the exit door…which only works on the ground floor. She has been able to go six to seven hours without an accident; this will improve with maturity. New words in Daisy’s repertoire include “outside” and “go to the bathroom” which makes the last task of the evening easy.
Pick this adorable Daisy and watch her blossom in your family!
Original: “When meeting new people, this beautiful, petite girl is a little shy at first but quickly warms up and turns on her happy little wiggle butt.”
Daisy became a MAESSR pup when her Pennsylvania family had a change in living situation and could no longer provide her with the time and exercise she deserved.
A MAESSR volunteer quickly picked up Daisy and temporarily fostered her for a week until a more long- term foster home could be found. Both foster homes are enamored with her!
Still a young pup, Daisy is adventurous and curious and loves to be by her person’s side. She is a high-energy girl who loves to play fetch and run around the yard. She also enjoys playing with her toys – especially anything that squeaks.
Very well-mannered for a young pup, Daisy does not counter-surf or get into the trash. She comes when she is called too. When her foster mom is working from home, Daisy settles down by her feet under the desk. If they need to go somewhere by car, Daisy rides nicely in the back seat.
When meeting new people, this beautiful, petite girl is a little shy at first but quickly warms up and turns on her happy little wiggle butt. Daisy has learned that there is no such thing as a stranger! She is always happy to make a friend with other animals, but if she senses they don’t want her overture, she sits. She has only growled once when she saw herself in a mirror and her reflection wasn’t being attentive enough!
Daisy loves children of all ages and has done well with little ones as young as 3 years old. In her second foster home, when the foster parents need to leave the house, Daisy is left in the kitchen and a ten-year-old neighbor child walks her. She is learning to walk well on the leash and she is good off leash in an enclosed yard. This social butterfly has attended an outdoor concert with her foster mom where she loved everyone she met.
In her first foster home Daisy lived with other dogs and did amazingly well with all of them. She particularly enjoyed playing with another young pup who lives in the home. Zoomies and a game of catch-me-if-you-can were her favorite daily activities. She has not been around cats in either foster home but was said to have lived with them in the past and to have done just fine.
Crate trained, Daisy will sleep quietly in her crate at night or in a bed alongside her foster mom’s bed on her own dog bed. Her foster parents are still working with Daisy on housetraining but Daisy is making amazing progress. She is taken out frequently since she does not signal yet, but she has been able to go six to seven hours without an accident.
Daisy would be fine as an only dog but she would really enjoy being with another friendly, playful dog. A home with young kids and a fenced yard would also be ideal. Daisy is going to be a wonderful addition for some lucky family.
